Book of Wisdom + The Yellow Akuma, Hana
There is a book in Chie no Mura containing all the wisdom and knowledge of Yuki no Kuni. It is kept safe in an underground temple guarded by the Yellow Akuma. After the war, Thanatos had no choice but to go and read it. He marched his way over there from his isolated house and decided he would have to do something about protecting his planet. Everyone was counting on him to do something since his family had always been the one protecting them. A lot of trauma and casualties were felt in the tense air when he stepped in his way inside of Chie no Mura. Some people looked at him like some hero and savior, while others looked at him furiously. Thanatos made no eye contact during his walk in the streets of the town and remembered how his dad told him that he would have to read this book one day. No other Akuma besides the blue had the authority to read the Book of Wisdom. The walk felt like an eternity, walking by so many people that were waiting for his return after 3 months of pure isolation, but finally, he had managed his way into the entrance of the underground temple.
Long ago, he was in this temple at the age of only 30 years old visiting with his father. Thanatos was too young at the time to understand the importance of the book and why his father would make his way there to read this book so often. Thanatos was met by a young female yellow Akuma that he recognized and remembered her name being Hana. She was the daughter of the yellow Akuma who was good friends with their family. Hana’s mom’s name was Bara and was usually the protector of the book, but after the war, she decided to step down since her emotions got too much in the way of her work. Hana greeted Thanatos with a smile and escorted him to the book he desired to read. They both didn’t interchange many words, but she could feel this new pressure he had collected on his shoulders after the war. She ultimately thought it would be best to stay quiet on their way down to the book.
Hana’s yellow Akuma family had historically been the protectors of the Book of Wisdom alongside a number of other duties. Most of these duties were to study and maintain the biology of Yuki no Kuni. They were also the ones who initially helped create the Book of Wisdom and the ones who created all the major technological advancements. They are known for their high intelligence on how to make their planet a better place for everyone and their sadness whenever bad events happen to Yuki no Kuni and its inhabitants. Hana was always respected growing up by showing a rapid skill of learning the new and old knowledge of the planet. Her life’s work consisted in making new ways to travel easier inside Yuki no Kuni and eventually outside of the planet as well. Her most known inventions are the “yuka glider,” a vehicle that would glide 5-10 inches of the floor and could travel up to speeds of 60 km/h. There were still a good amount of improvements to be made, but the sleek design of the latest model was very popular amongst the residents that could afford it.
Once they reached the bottom of the stairs, they were both met with a gigantic library filled with important books that could entertain one for a very long time. The library was empty. Hana brought Thanatos close to a small corner where it seemed to be just a big bookshelf with a small wooden pedestal in front of it. The pedestal looked intact and on top, a needle and a small book were placed neatly in place. The small book was titled “Mark of the Blue Akuma.” Hana explained that this was the book he had to sign in order to access the Book of Wisdom. It was made by the same page material of the Book of Wisdom and were both connected in a sort of magical way. Thanatos opened the small book and the inside contents shocked him. It was used as a tracklist of everytime an Akuma wanted to read the book. The name of everyone next to their fingerprint is marked with blue blood. This tracked all the way to Mr. Hakai in the first page, to the last one being his older brother. Thanatos was a bit confused on why his older brother was on here, but looking at the pages he understood what he had to do and marked his name and signature in the Mark of the Blue Akuma.
The bookshelf in front of them opened a small pathway that led straight to the book that Thanatos desired to read. Hana told him it was all him now and that she would be waiting for his return when he was done. Thanatos made his way in this small path that was formed and found it getting smaller each time. He eventually found the Book of Wisdom with minimal light sitting on the floor. There was enough space to sit down and finally after so long, he had it in his hands. It was a pale white book with nothing written on the exterior, if found randomly, people would not be able to tell it was anything special. Thanatos finally opened it on the first page.
The book was blank at first, but words were appearing one by one in a dark blue color. The first words that showed up were; “Wisdom comes with sacrifice; Greed is poison in a pure heart; Knowledge carries the pain previous passerby fell victim to; Thanatos, shall you still decide to continue your selfish act of desire to know everything?” The War of the Millennia changed Thanatos in many different ways and as the last Blue Akuma, he felt an obligation to know the truth of why everything had to happen the way it did. Thanatos whispered “yes” and the book transformed into a gigantic book containing all the history of the planet, ritual ancestry, moral and ethical guidelines each color Akuma have, myths of gods and items, combat guides for each specialty of fighter and a personalized category showing Thanatos his potential as an Akuma.
He sat on the floor and spent a couple hours reading the bits he was most interested in, but soon, he realized why his dad came here so often. There was so much information that it felt like it would take ages just to get through it all. The book would display the information as Thanatos would make the question out loud if he could not find it. Some information was locked and could only be accessed with certain requirements. These pages were mostly about his future and what he had to do from this point forward. The first task that was assigned to him was to go to the place where everything began. The Soul Pond. There he would find the answers to some of the questions he was asking and also a very special addition to his journey of protection and salvation, the Soul Catcher Katana. Once Thanatos was able to go there and acquire the katana, he could come back and read the locked chapters in the Book of Wisdom. Before he left, the book warned him that there was more evil coming in the near future and that he would have to act if he truly had a pure heart. This cleared his suspicions and made it even more clear on his decision to protect everyone.
Thanatos closed the book and made his way out of there. He thanked Hana for guiding him there and assured her that he would be back to see her and to read the book again. He rushed outside the temple with an indication of what he had to do next, and told everyone outside waiting for him that he would take on the duty of protecting the people and the planet. Thanatos went from having no sense and purpose in life to a lifelong mission to make himself as useful as one can be.
